CONSTRUCTION SKILLS CERTIFICATION SCHEME

CSCS was set up to help the construction industry improve quality and reduce accidents. CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others.
ICATS Coordinator David Eyre has been in discussions over the past 4 moths with Gordon Jenkins CSCS Scheme Manager ensuring that CSCS had all documentation and evidence to enable them to recognise ICATS. ICATS has now been recognised by CSCS and in future any operative who successfully completes the ICATS Basic module will be entitled to apply for a CSCS CRO (Construction Related Occupation) card. Any applicant must undertake and pass the CSCS Health and Safety test before the card is granted. A CRO card is valid for five years and to renew it applicants must retake and pass the Health and Safety test.
ICATS Coordinator David Eyre commented ‘This is a real benefit to ICATS qualified applicators and is recognition of the skills level the scheme is delivering’.
